ObesityWeek® 2023 & Calibrate’s Latest Research & Results
During the week of October 14, 2023, former World Obesity Federation President and Calibrate Clinical Advisor Donna Ryan, MD traveled to Dallas, TX to present Calibrate’s latest program research and results at ObesityWeek®. ObesityWeek is the leading global scientific conference on obesity, held annually in the fall and presented by The Obesity Society.
On Monday, October 16, Dr. Ryan presented on Calibrate’s largest cohort (11,000 members) and best results to date:
KEY FINDINGS PRESENTED AT OBESITY WEEK 2023
Calibrate’s Metabolic Reset was built on decades of research that shows that incremental habit change through intensive lifestyle intervention, in combination with medication that works on underlying biology, is the most effective approach for sustained weight loss and improved metabolic health.
Dr. Ryan presented the following member outcomes to ObesityWeek 2023 attendees:
- By combining GLP-1 medication with behavior changes across food, exercise, sleep, and emotional health, Calibrate members achieved 16.2% body weight loss at 12 months, and 17.2% weight loss at 24 months.
- Calibrate members lost an average of 6.1 inches off their waist measurements.
Members self-reported the following improvements to health behaviors:
- 57.5% improvement for food habits
- 37.4% improved hours of sleep/night
- 49.6% increased exercise frequency
- 29.3% improvement for emotional health
- 50.5% improvement to energy levels
- 28% improvement to overarching assessment of health
WHAT DR. RYAN HAD TO SAY ABOUT CALIBRATE OUTCOMES
During her ObesityWeek 2023 presentation, Dr. Ryan noted, "Calibrate has made yet another important contribution to the conversation surrounding GLP-1 medications.”
“Achieving 16.2% weight loss in a real-world cohort of this magnitude, and demonstrating sustained and improved results over 24 months is truly impressive. It underscores the effectiveness of Calibrate's approach.”
“This model has the potential to redefine how we address obesity treatment, offering patients a new standard of care that ensures lasting, meaningful outcomes."
WHY CALIBRATE IS MORE THAN MEDICATION: OBESITY WEEK TAKEAWAYS
In order to be eligible for this outcomes analysis, Calibrate members needed to have access to GLP-1 medication for only one month.
Many members included in this dataset did not have continuous access to medication given changes to insurance coverage as well as challenges with medication availability due to ongoing manufacturing shortages.
On average, members in this cohort had to switch medications (1.6 medications per member) and were only able to fill 7.2 prescriptions over the course of their first year. Despite these challenges, members saw continued progress and continued to meet and/or exceed weight loss goals.
The Calibrate program was designed to work with or without medication. With access to accountability coaching, a science-backed curriculum, and a licensed medical team, members receive comprehensive support through every stage of their Metabolic Reset.
Inventory, cost, and insurance coverage drive medication access, and amid ongoing nationwide challenges with all three, no one can guarantee uninterrupted medication access. However, at Calibrate, we guarantee results: Read more about our philosophy here and review the Calibrate Results Money Back Promise here.
We’re a modern, medical approach that combines clinician-prescribed medication with 1:1 accountability coaching—all personalized to your biology, your goals, and your life for a metabolic reset that lasts and 10% Weight Loss Guaranteed (see terms).
