Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve compiled the questions Calibrate members tend to ask during Orientation—so you don’t have to.
Labs
During your clinician visit, your Calibrate clinician will review your lab results and health history, and use this information to make recommendations for your treatment plan—tailored to you.
You should receive a lab order via the Support Center in your Calibrate app within 48 hours of requesting labs during account setup. If we do not receive the necessary insurance information during account setup, we’ll contact you via the Support Center to obtain the necessary insurance details before ordering your labs.
Labs are not included in the cost of your Metabolic Reset. Your Calibrate Team helps navigate your commercial insurance to get your labs covered, but coverage is not guaranteed. Read more about labs coverage here.
Prior to your Calibrate clinician visit, our Clinical Team requires you to complete lab work to better inform your medical care.
The lab requirements are as follows:
Within 3 months prior to your clinician visit:
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
Within 6 months prior to your clinician visit:
- Hemoglobin A1c
- Lipid Panel
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
In addition, we recommend a fasting insulin test and a C-Reactive Protein (CRP) test (also within 6 months prior to your clinician visit), but this isn’t required.
If Calibrate generates the lab order, the required labs as well as a fasting insulin test and a C-Reactive Protein (CRP) test will automatically be included in your lab request.
If you plan to upload your own labs, be sure they meet the full list of requirements above. If you are missing any required labs from this list, you will need to visit a lab to have them drawn before you can schedule your appointment with a Calibrate clinician. Please do not visit a lab without getting a lab order from Calibrate. You can request a new lab order by messaging us via the Support Center in your Calibrate app.
To ensure proper medical identification, please make sure your labs contain your full name and date of birth. Also, make sure the date of collection is on the pages of your results so we can validate when you got the labs done.
Our Clinical Team prescribes medication based on up-to-date health information to protect your health and safety.
You’ll be able to see your lab results in the Calibrate app seven to eight days after you get your labs done. This is because it can take up to five days for Calibrate to receive your lab results from Labcorp, Quest, or a local lab, after which a Calibrate clinician will review them before making your lab results accessible within the Calibrate app.
Once your labs have been reviewed, you can view them by logging into your Calibrate app:
- Tap the Profile tab
- Select Health Data
- Select Labs
- View your available lab results by date received
If you are a new member with labs from the last three months that meet all lab requirements, you should have uploaded these as part of your account setup.
To upload attachments and lab results to a Support Message, log into your Calibrate app:
- Tap the Support tab
- Select Message Support and fill out the required fields
- Select Send an Attachment
- You must first select Send and then you will be prompted to add an attachment (Note: For iPhone users, you can only attach an image from your camera roll. For Android users, you can attach any file or image type)
- Ensure all necessary information is represented in the images
- Once you add an attachment, your message will be sent
Appointments
Both appointments can be scheduled through your Calibrate app, but only after you’ve completed certain orientation steps.
In order to schedule your coaching sessions, you must complete account setup, your Comprehensive Health Intake, and Level 1 Fundamentals Class and Level 1 Method Class in the app. Once you complete those steps, the app will prompt you to schedule your first coaching session.
To schedule your video clinical visit, you’ll need to attend your coaching session, complete your labs, and have a Calibrate clinician review your lab work. After these steps are complete, you’ll receive a push notification prompting you to schedule your clinical visit via the app.
For your 30-minute, 1:1 video visit with your Calibrate clinician, you must:
- Attend your first coaching session
- Complete all your required labs five business days before your appointment
- Physically be in the primary state of residence you selected when you signed up for Calibrate
- Be in a quiet and private place, without distractions (no driving, please!), in order to discuss personal details about your health
If you’re unable to meet any of these requirements, you must reschedule your video visit.
To do so, log into your Calibrate app, tap the Visits tab, and select your clinical visit to reschedule. Please know that if you request to change or cancel less than 48 hours before your appointment, you may not be able to reschedule for up to two weeks, which will delay your medication process.
If you’ve changed your state of residence for 30 consecutive days or more, please also let us know via the Support Center so we can update your information. We may need to reschedule your clinical visit with another provider in your new state.
During your appointment, you’ll discuss your health history, lab results, and learn more about the GLP-1 medications that are clinically appropriate for you and covered by your insurance. Your Calibrate clinician will also discuss how GLP-1 medications are most effective when you have the support of your Calibrate coach, Clinical Team, and Calibrate Community. Your Clinical Team will work with you to adjust medication as needed, in order to find the right tapering timeline. The lifestyle tweaks you’ll make, and the tools you’ll learn from Calibrate, are the key to sustaining your success long-term.
There are three important steps you’ll need to complete before attending your first coaching session:
- Complete the first two lessons in your app (Fundamentals and Method)
- Sign your Calibrate Commitment
- Schedule and attend your coaching session
- Come ready to discuss your Why
You’ll learn everything you need to know about these requirements in your Method Class so be sure to read through it as soon as possible. To get the most out of your first coaching session—and every recurring session thereafter—please follow these guidelines:
- Be on time. Your coach won’t be able to go over your allotted time together, so it’s important that you aren’t late.
- Call in from a private, quiet place—and please, no driving. Your privacy and safety are incredibly important to us.
- Stay on topic. Your coach is here to help you set and achieve goals throughout your Reset. Coaches are not doctors, nurses, or insurance experts—nor do they have visibility into your medication status, so make sure to direct medication process questions to Support instead of bringing them to your session.

Medication
Starting any new medication can be complicated and intimidating. At Calibrate, we use a team-based approach to navigate the prescription process and reduce or eliminate any barriers, providing as smooth a transition as possible when starting your GLP-1s/combined GLP-1s. See our Getting Your Medication Guide for a detailed explanation of the prescription process.
GLP-1 approval can vary by insurance company and individual plan. Our team will help navigate the insurance process for you to find you a GLP-1 covered at $25 per month or less, on average, after any deductible has been met. It’s not uncommon to receive a few denial letters from your insurance during this time. It typically takes up to four weeks to get a GLP-1 covered by insurance, but may take up to 90 days depending on the complexity of the case. You'll receive an email from Calibrate once we have a final determination of your GLP-1 coverage. Don't worry if you get an initial denial from your insurance: our Benefits Verification Specialists are working behind the scenes to submit multiple PAs on your behalf. If you are ultimately not eligible for any GLP-1 medications, we'll reach out to you in the Support Center.
Side effects are extremely rare, and most individuals who take a GLP-1 do not experience any. For those who do, nausea is the most common, and this typically resolves over the first few weeks of being on the medication. These side effects are minimized by our titration protocol, in which we incrementally increase the dose when starting (or restarting, if there has been a gap) your GLP-1 medication. In the most recent clinical trials, less than 5% of people discontinued GLP-1 medications because of side effects.
If you do experience any side effects, we have resources with recommendations to help you manage constipation, diarrhea, acid reflux, nausea and vomiting. Additionally, you can reach out to your Clinical Team directly for support, via the Support Center in the Calibrate app.
App & Tech Support
Your Welcome Kit will be delivered within two to three weeks after you sign up. You’ll receive a tracking number and details via email a few days after your sign-up is complete.
Please follow the instructions in the Getting Started With Your Withings Scale Guide.
Your Welcome Kit includes a Withings smart scale that will sync directly with your Calibrate app. As soon as you receive your scale, you can set it up using the Calibrate app and the Withings Body Pro Onboarding Guide that you received with your scale.
Even if you already have another smart scale, our Medical Team strongly recommends setting up your Withings smart scale, as its cellular connectivity allows for much faster and more reliable syncing than Bluetooth devices. Plus, the Withings smart scale syncs directly with your Calibrate app, with no additional setup.
However, if you prefer to use your personal Bluetooth smart scale, just make sure it’s synced to Apple Health (on iOS) or Google Fit (on Android) in order for your readings to sync with the Calibrate app.
For scale troubleshooting FAQs, please visit the Support Center in your Calibrate app, and search by keyword “scale.” If you have any additional questions, please send us a message via the Support Center in the Calibrate app.
You can download the Calibrate app on the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play (for Android devices).
You can find detailed setup instructions in the following guides:
Please note:
- Check that you have Apple Health downloaded on your iPhone, or Google Fit downloaded on your Android phone. You’ll want to sync and share data directly between Apple Health or Google Fit and your Calibrate app.
- Turn on push notifications to allow the Calibrate app to notify you with reminders to track your daily metrics, alerts, and messages from our Medical, Support, and Coaching team:
—Log into your Calibrate app
—Tap the Profile tab
—Select Notifications
—Toggle on Push Notifications
—You will be prompted with a pop-up screen to opt-in to push notifications in your phone settings - Follow the instructions in the Getting Started with Calibrate Guide to set up your Withings smart scale.
- After you download and log into the Calibrate app, you’ll find on-screen instructions explaining how to measure and enter each baseline metric. You can also find detailed instructions in the Waist Measurement Guide.
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. When signing into the Calibrate app, instead of using a username and password, you’ll receive a confirmation code via email. This ensures the safety of your personal health information, eliminates the risk of password theft, and makes it so you don’t need to remember your password.
To log in to the Calibrate app:
- Tap Sign In
- When asked to verify your email, enter the email address you used to join Calibrate and tap Confirm
- Open the recent email from Calibrate and copy the confirmation code to your clipboard
- Enter the code into the app and select Submit (Note: the code will work for 30 minutes—after that, you’ll need to request a new one in the app)
- You’ll be automatically directed to the Home screen of the app
After you download and log into the Calibrate app, you’ll find on-screen instructions explaining how to measure and enter each metric. You can also find detailed instructions in the Waist Measurement Guide.
Tracking is an important part of your Metabolic Reset because we believe that what you can measure, you can change. What you track becomes the data that your Medical Team uses to adjust your medication and the inputs that you and your Coach use to personalize your goals.
At the beginning of your Metabolic Reset—from the moment you log into your app—you’ll have two required trackers: your weight tracker and energy level tracker, which can be found on the home screen. You’ll also see additional sleep and step trackers. As you progress further into your Reset, these trackers will then become required. You’ll also see a final tracker, your red foods tracker, in your Level 1 Food class.
Check out our How and Why We Track Guide to learn more about how trackers can support your progress. You’ll also be able to discuss these trackers with your coach in your 1:1 sessions.
To connect your Fitbit to the Calibrate app, please download Fitbit to Apple Health Sync from the App Store (for iOS users) or FitToFit from the Google Play store (for Android users). These apps will sync your Fitbit data to Apple Health or Google Fit, which will then sync to the Calibrate app.
The Calibrate app does not currently sync with the MyFitnessPal app, but if it’s helpful for you, feel free to keep using your MyFitnessPal app outside of Calibrate.
You can connect any sleep tracker app to your Calibrate app, so long as it syncs and shares data directly with either Apple Health or Google Fit. First, check that the sleep tracker of your choice will allow data sharing with Apple Health or Google Fit. Then, turn on the data sharing option for your sleep tracker app. Your sleep metrics will automatically sync from Apple Health or Google Fit to the Calibrate app.
Please let us know if you need any additional setup support by reaching out via the Support Center in the Calibrate app.
