Are there any actions I can take if my medication is impacted by a shortage?
- Call different pharmacies in your area to see if they have the medication you’re currently prescribed. If so, you can call your current pharmacy and request a “prescription transfer.” Make sure to request all doses be transferred to the new pharmacy, including any relevant savings card information. Do not initiate this request more than 21 days before your refill as due, as your insurance company will not allow you to fill the medication with a co-pay or savings card.
- Ask to be placed on a waitlist at your preferred pharmacy. When they receive a new shipment of medication, they’ll give you a call.
